More real emergency calls received by Steamboat Springs' local law enforcement, as published in Steamboat Today.
12:31 a.m. Steamboat Springs Police Department officers were called to a report of a drunken driver at Routt County Road 14 and Mount Werner Road. The driver was contacted, and it was discovered the driver was distracted by the new Pokemon Go cell phone application.
2:14 a.m. Officers were called to a report of a TV on fire in the middle of the road on Pahwintah Street.
4:42 a.m. Officers were called to a report of a suspicious incident at a hotel in the 200 block of Lincoln Avenue. The front desk clerk got a call from a guest’s room, but the clerk could only hear breathing. Police checked on the guest. He was fine and had fallen asleep while on the phone.
7:46 a.m. Officers were called to a report of a coyote possibly in the area of Soda Creek Elementary School.
9:48 a.m. Officers were called to a report of a woman who said her Jeep Cherokee had been stolen at Seventh and Oak Streets. The keys had been left in the ignition. The woman later learned her friend named "Dave" had borrowed it.
1:39 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a suspicious man walking around a parking lot with a large kitchen knife in the 1500 block of Shadow Run Court. Police determined the man had lost the key to his mailbox, and the only way he could open it was with the kitchen knife. Police told the man he needed to get a new key.
3:57 p.m. Officers were called to a report of suspicious people shoveling snow in the 1400 block of Block of Morgan Court. It was suspicious because it was not the people who normally shovel snow. Police determined everything was fine.
3:57 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a fire alarm pull handle being pulled at a business in the 1000 block of Lincoln Avenue. A dog reportedly pulled the handle.
4:13 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a New England Patriots flag that was stolen off of a porch in the 400 block of Cherry Drive. The victims of the theft requested immediate assistance from police because they were superstitious and the Patriots were losing against the New York Giants. The flag was not located, but the Patriots won the football game. The people did not think their neighbors stole the flag because they were Packers fans.
4:35 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a car swerving in the 2500 block of Lincoln Avenue. The driver was reportedly seen folding laundry. The car could not be located.
5:56 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a suspicious incident at a convenience store in the 2000 block of Curve Plaza. A woman called from the bathroom saying she was hearing gurgling noises, and she thought something peculiar was going on. Police could not find anyone.
10:05pm - Police received a call from a woman who said her juvenile granddaughter was at the ski area last week and ran into a person who was selling bags of what she thought were portobello mushrooms dipped in chocolate for $30. Police said the granddaughter further informed her grandmother that giraffes were chasing her down the hill after she ate the mushrooms.
